Building Your List Building with Squeeze Pages
Building Your List Building with Squeeze Pages
What is a squeeze page? It is a list building tool. But in this post I am going to look at a list building method that uses the squeeze page as the beginning point of your list building efforts.
First, let’s look at some other names that you will see used. Different internet marketers will refer to the squeeze page as a “lead capture page”, a “landing page”, an “opt-in page”, a “splash page”, etc.
A squeeze page is a web page or web site that is designed to accomplish one thing: obtaining the name and email address of everyone that happens to visit the web site.
The whole idea is to squeeze the visitor’s contact information into a form on the squeeze page so that the visitor is added as a lead or subscriber to your newsletter or list.
There are other reasons for having people on your list, but primarily you want to build a solid relationship with your subscribers.
But, make no mistake about it, the over arching purpose of a list or newsletter is to make sales of your products or your affiliate products. Yes, you must provide very good content for your subscribers; but, in the end you want to present them with your offers so that you can make money online.
Your whole reason for having an internet or affiliate business online is to make money and the squeeze page method of building a list is a primary tool of almost every internet marketer, if not all of them.
Another concept of using a squeeze page is to put the focus on getting your visitor to purchase your product. This post will not cover that aspect of squeeze pages, but will focus on the idea of list building. That is, obtaining your visitor’s contact information. That will be only goal of this particular web site.
Now, I will introduce the reason that some choose to refer to the squeeze page as an opt-in page. The primary component of the squeeze page is an opt-in form or box as it is sometimes called.
This form or box is a place on the web page so that the visitor can enter his name and email address. Doing so makes the visitor a potential subscriber to your list. Thus the name, the visitor has chosen to opt-in.
The squeeze page method is used by every successful internet marketer. You will not be in the online business long before you will start to see opt-in boxes every day, and most of them will be on squeeze pages. You will, however, also see them on websites and blogs – at least the opt-in box. You will see one in the upper right of this blog.
The key here is that for list building, the squeeze page method must be laid out and focused on obtaining the visitors name and email address. As you utilize the squeeze page method in your efforts to make money online, your list building efforts will provide online success.

Great description Lonnie.
It’s also important to understand that we must “sell” the visitor to have them fill in the opt-in form. Although we aren’t asking them to pay for anything, we must still sell the idea/the value of the newsletter, as many people are still concerned with entering their email on web sites.

Great post, Lonnie!
It’s really important for new Internet and affiliate marketers to be building your lists non-stop, and squeeze pages are a big part of that – both when participating in giveaways and on your regular sites.
As your business grows, more and more squeeze pages should be put online with various gifts and incentives, so that a number of squeeze pages work 24/7 at building your lists.
And as Joel pointed our above, be sure you explain the benefits to be derived by signing up – don’t just assume your visitors will understand the value of your gift or of receiving your e-zine.

Lonnie,
i wanted a squeeze page yesterday. I know I downloaded one I liked and wanted to personalize, haven’t been able to find it yet. One thing I have learned that that the click-thru/sign-up from a squeeze page is 100% related to the design and the dew words listed. It really doesn’t matter where you used it (high speed traffic exchanges or even in blog posts), it must “Grab” the attention in a second. Like you said, you must focus in getting the viewer to sign-up.

Great post Lonnie. Squeeze pages, opt in pages or whatever you want to call them are an integral part of any online business, even if you own a butcher shop or a cafe. And providing value to your list goes well beyond the initial contact too.

It really comes down to the offer. The person has to just need to have it so giving their email is a no-brainer.
That can be conveyed many different ways by good copy, good graphics, etc but the offer itself has to be a must have.

Lonnie, great info.
You are dead on with the reason for having the opt in form. Yes, we would all love to have thousands of people coming to read our blogs each day, but we would also like to have most of them sign up to receive ‘added value’ information from us.
We as marketers must provide solid, valuable content and offer an ethical bribe for visitors to give us their information.
Keep up the great work!
