Building Your List By Commenting
Building Your List By Commenting
One of the primary tasks that those involved in internet marketing must accomplish is getting traffic to their blog (web presence). If you are not marketing your blog you are not getting as much traffic as you could be.
Commenting on other people’s blogs is a practice used by most successful bloggers and internet marketers. By posting comments on other blogs you have the potential to let other bloggers know about your blog – and this can be a source of traffic to your blog.
When commenting on blogs there are a few things that you should keep in mind.
1. First and foremost, you want to insure that your comments add to the discussion presented in the post that you are commenting on. You comments should at least leave the impression that you have read the post. You should never just go to the comment area and post something like, “Good post”, or “Great information”, or “Keep making these great posts” or variations of this type.
First, such comments are not useful to anyone and could be considered as spam by the blog owner.
Second, comments like this make it appear that all you are interested in is a link back to your blog. The comment is self-serving and useless to the discussion at hand.
2. Comments help to build you as an internet marketer if you leave relevant comments. As people read your comments they will see that you are interested and that you are contributing to the discussion. By continuing to post good comments you are pitching yourself in an unobtrusive way. You are also demonstrating that you understand the subject and that helps to get you recognized as knowledgeable in the field.
These things just might encourage someone to click on your website link and you will get traffic to your blog as a result.
3. Be courteous. Never run anyone down in your comments. Bad mouthing anyone or anything in your comments should be avoided at all costs.
However, that does not mean that you should not offer constructive criticism. Nor does it mean that you should not disagree with the content of the post or some portion of it. The point is, be respectful when you have a different opinion about something. Disagreeing with your point of view laid out is a good way to add to the discussion. It also shows that you know something about the subject.
Well, this post started off talking about building your list by commenting. How does commenting on other marketer’s blog help you to build your opt-in list?
Every time you make a comment on someone’s blog, you get to provide the URL for your blog and that becomes a part of the comment. If someone clicks on your URL they become traffic to your blog.
Now, if you have the foresight to provide an opt-in box on your blog, some of that traffic will complete and submit the opt-in form. That is list building. You will have added a subscriber to your list. Almost everyone involved in internet marketing uses this method as one of their list building efforts. It’s not the fastest list building method, but over time you will get new subscribers.

Great post, it’s one method that all successful marketers and bloggers use. I have been using this method for years now and it range from 30 – 50+ unique visitors for each comment, depending on how much traffic the blog or how hot the topic is.
As long as you are commenting honestly because you liked the content it’s a good way to go, you don’t want to just comment just for the traffic, interact and share your thoughts in your comment and you’ll find that other people start checking out your linkback to your blog, website etc.
