Three Effective List Building Methods

Because a list of subscribers is essential to internet marketing success, consistent efforts at list building are required. The main reason for this is that subscribers are constantly leaving your optin list.

Because of that you must constantly implement methods to rebuild your list – replace those that leave and add more subscribers so that your list is constantly growing.

Here are three methods that will help you maintain and build your list.

1. Pop up windows.

Now, most internet marketers have a love/hate relationship toward pop ups. Many internet marketers and apparently most internet users don’t like pop ups. They are annoying, intrusive, and get in the way of what you want to read. They are especially annoying if they are slow moving or hard to remove. That’s the hate part.

However, pop ups still work. Therefore, most internet marketers use them. They add subscribers and buyers. That’s the love part. So, internet users that become marketers start using them also.

Putting pop ups on your website or blog is easy.  This post is not about how to do it, but here are some different ways to implement the pop ups.
They can be designed to appear as your site loads, some delay time after the site loads, or as people leave the site or blog.

Some scripts allow for a different message or pop up to be rotated each time the site is load so that the visitor does not see the same message each time they visit. This is especially nice when you have repeat visitors to your site or blog.

Pop up boxes can be used for several different applications including:
To make sales
To redirect the visitor to another page – Maybe your affiliate program
To obtain the visitor’s name and email address

The last application listed is probably the one most used by internet marketers. Its main purpose is list building. All internet marketers want to build their list and having this optin box on their website or blog contributes to their efforts to build their list of subscribers.

Even though you may consider these pop up boxes annoying or intrusive, you should still use them on your sites. The reason is simple – they work. If your incentive offer is appealing enough, many of your visitors will complete and submit their contact information and your list will grow.

2. Archive your newsletter issues.

If your newsletter is of the traditional type that is based on content delivered on some sort of regular schedule, then you can archive each issue of your newsletter.

For example you could post each issue on your blog. As visitors find your blog and your back issues and become familiar with your content, some will like what you are saying and will join your newsletter.

Why would they do that if you are posting it on your blog? The main reason is so that they can get your content as soon as you publish your newsletter.

This will be especially true if you let people know that there will be a delay of some amount of time before you will get the newsletter added to your archive. This will help to entice them to subscribe and get it when it first comes out.

If your newsletter is based mostly on offers to your list and not much content, archiving will not work quite as well.

3. Add numerous optin boxes to your website.

This is a simple concept, but few marketers actually implement it. On a traditional type website you need to add the optin box to each page. On a blog this is easy, you just put your optin box on the side bar and it will appear on each page of your blog.

Regardless of how it is implemented, insure that your visitors have the opportunity to subscribe to you list regardless of the page they happen to land on.

You could also add your optin box at the start of your article or maybe in the middle or at the end.

Providing good content on your website or blog will encourage your visitors to subscribe to your list.

As you implement any or all of these methods you will be adding to your list building efforts. And getting new subscribers on a constant basis is one of the key things that you can do to build and maintain your internet marketing business.
