#3 – I think this one is great point. More options you present to reader to signup, more chances you get to get a subscriber.

Nice idea about list building. However I don’t like pop up window. I really get irritated. Appearing only once is okay, but in some blog it appears each time a new page is loaded.

I like the light box style of opt in form that appears suddenly and covers the rest of the page. It’s there and they either fill it in or they click to close it. I’m less fond of those that slowly crawl into view where you have to wait for it to stop before you can click to kill them.

If you are providing good content, and allow enough time for the viewer to see and understand that, the opt in box will have minimal adverse effect if it pops in or not.

Your idea about sharing past archive messages is a great idea. I have seen this done a bit, but not a lot, and I think there’s some great potential here for people to get a lot more subscribers. It’s a good way to using the content you already produce to bring in more subscribers.
